In France Paris Travel Versailles

Paris, I Took What I Said Before

Me?
It never on my list.

Senangnya keluar dari kota itu karena bisa ketemu teman, talk and laugh like a normal person. So any city I'll come to as long as I can meet friends.

Because it never on my list, I don't have any itinerary for 2 days and not prepare or googling anything. So first day, where to go? Ngikut teman London, Palace of Versailles (visit www.chateauversailles.fr for more).

Setelah ngangguin pemberi penginapan gratis buat sarapan, yang tadinya kita berencana berangkat pagi jadinya bergeser beberapa jam setelah pagi (we did talk a lot the night before).

Enaknya di negara dengan sistem transportasi terintegrasi, we just have to download the mobile app and we all can face the whole day. Perancis punya RATP which stands for RĆ©gie Autonome des Transports Parisien. It covers train, bus and tramway.

Dari Courbevoie ke Palace of Versailles kita butuh tiket Mobilis, a one day ticket for bus, tram and metro. Untuk zona 1-4 (Paris + Versailles) seharga €11.50.
Naik bus 178 menuju Faubourg de L'arche lama perjalanan ± 3 menit.
Disambung tram T 2 menuju Musee de Sevres lama perjalanan ± 18 menit.
Sampai disini kita ganti naik bus lagi, lumayan olahraga "pagi-pagi" naik tangga, nggak berapa lama datanglah bus 171 kita.

It's huge and luxurious. That is my first impression as I see the palace.
But wait... that is not all. So actually this is just the palace, without the gardens and the groves and still minus the Palaces of Trianon and Marie-Antoinette's Estate. So it's a really hugeeeee estate!

Ticket first!
They're gonna offer 2 types of ticket:
  • Passport ticket for €18 covers the palace, Palaces of Trianon and Marie-Antoinette's Estate and all exhibition (there are musical fountains shows and musical gardens every Tuesdays and weekends if we come on April to October)
  • Palace tickets for €15 covers only the palace.

There will be audioguide about the palace in the entrance, available in some languages.
Inside the palace from the Hall of Mirrors to King's Chamber, from Diana drawing room to Mars Drawing room, from Queen's Guardroom to Battles gallery, full with paintings, statues and others.

The Royal Chapel, the dome full with paintings, well most of the room's dome are full with paintings.
The Hall in Mirrors was called La Grande Galerie
Next stop will be the Grand Trianon and the Petite Trianon. Karena untuk ke Grand Trianon kita memutuskan jalan kaki menyeberangi taman demi berhemat beberapa euro, jadilah sampai di Grand Trianon kita pegel :D There are actually mini-trains leaving from the North Palace to Grand Trianon, then to Marie-Antoinette's Estate and last to the Little Venice, cost €7.50 or we can rent electronic vehicle cost €32/hr (you really need to have driving license to be able to rent this).

The very broad garden The Grand Trianon
Nggak lama-lama di Grand Trianon kita langsung ke Marie-Antoinette's Farm, it's huge too.
So in here there are queen's house, mill, Marlborough's Tower, Queen's Hamlet, and a farm. Sayangnya pas kesana sepertinya sedang dalam perbaikan, masih berantakan.
Ah, on the way to the farm, you might want to stop at Temple of Love, you know, for taking pictures.

Old building from Marie-Antoinette's Farm

We decide to go to.... Eiffel Towers!!!!!

Dari ChĆ¢teau de Versailles kita jalan kaki ke stasiun Gare de Versailles sekitar hampir 1 km.
Nah from here to Eiffel tower we need to stop at Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel.
It cost €4. If you buy the ticket from the machine make sure you have the €10 or €20, it doesn't accept €50. But there's always ticket office at the station.

So, Eiffel at night is pretty but still curious Eiffel under the sun. So we back here the next morning. Sayangnya menjelang siang pun masih berkabut.

Memanfaatkan waktu tersisa, akhirnya kita marathon "the line", Arc de Triomphe, Champs-ƉlysĆ©es, Place de la Concorde, and The Louvre.

If you take a look at the map, these places are in one line.

Masih ada waktu sedikit, mampir ke Notre Dame de Paris, the iconic Gothic church. I should say the architecture is amazing.
Notre Dame de Paris and Point Zero, step on it, then you'll find your way back to Paris someday :)

And that's it my first 2-days-weekend-getaway. Surely will be back here because there are still too much to see.

Au revoir... et Ơ bientƓt !
